I received a call last week from the Be The Match Foundation that I was a potential match for a 7-year old boy with MDS. I told them I would be traveling, but I could definitely take the time out of my vacation to give some blood. The faster the test results come in, the faster I can be ruled out or deemed a match and the sooner that little boy gets well. So on the way to Anna Maria Island last Thursday, we made a quick stop at LabCorp for a blood sample.
I’d like to encourage everyone who reads this to take the time to sign-up! It’s so fast and easy. I signed up back in law school and when I got the call I felt like I had won a prize; I got picked to potentially save someone’s life! You never know if one day your child or even you yourself will need a bone marrow transplant and turn to the services of the Be The Match Foundation.
